History of Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd

Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd first commenced operation in Australia and New Zealand as Gibson Chemetall, a joint venture between Chemetall GmbH and Gibson Chemicals.

 

1997
February – Purchased existing metal finishing business from Tak Chemicals and Gibson Chemicals, with a specialist sales and technical team of 11 people.
1998
May – Chemetall GmbH purchased the Gibson shares with the expansion of the specialist sales and technical team to 16 people and with operations in all Australian states and New Zealand. July – Name change to Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd. October – Certified to QS 9000 and ISO 9002
2001
January – Awarded the Chemical Management contract at Mitsubishi Austarlia’s, Tonsley Park plant.
2002
January – Attained certification to ISO 14001. November – The Industrial Products Division of Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd was launched.
2003
December – Purchased SureChem Industries Pty Ltd who were licensees for the Ardrox brand in Australia and New Zealand.
2004
January – Established the Aerospace Division of Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd with Ardrox as the core range of NDT and associated aerospace products.
2006
May – Established the Food Division of Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd with a specialised range of cleaning and sanitation products.
2009
August – A purpose build facility was constructed in Bayswater, Melbourne, as the new Technical Centre. Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd now with 50 employees.
2010
February – Tergo, a major New Zealand industrial chemical company was purchased, providing Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd with a manufacturing centre in New Zealand. December – An expansion into the metal working fluids business was made possible with the acquisition of Artech, a Melbourne based company.
2011
January – Chemetall (Australasia) Pty Ltd now employs 70 people.
